Automated behavioural analysis allows us to measure those effects and test compounds that may modify them. Electrophysiology and molecular profiling help us understand the biological changes behind the behaviour.<\/p><p>Our work includes models relevant to ADHD and schizophrenia, alongside earlier studies of other neurological disorders. This work identified compounds that reduced hyperactivity, including amlodipine. Subsequent studies combined evidence from zebrafish and rats with human genetic analyses and observational data.<\/p><p>The findings support further investigation of amlodipine and L-type calcium channel biology in ADHD. We examine how their structure compares with that of other mammals, including the hippocampus and neural systems involved in sleep and arousal.
