Neuroscience and drug discovery<\/span><\/h1>

My main focus is drug discovery for brain disorders. I study how changes in brain function affect behaviour and how that knowledge can guide the development of new treatments. My work combines experimental disease models with human genetics and evidence from clinical data.<\/p>

At Reykjav\u00edk University, I lead the RU NEUROLAB and contribute to research and education in neuroscience and neurotechnology. At 3Z Pharmaceuticals, I work to develop disease models, refine screening methods and turn discoveries into clinically relevant drug candidates with protectable intellectual property and a credible path to development. At LTCC, I lead the development of S-amlodipine as a potential non-stimulant treatment for ADHD.<\/p>

Research and translation<\/h2>

My research began with sleep and the developing nervous system. It grew into the use of zebrafish to study brain disorders and identify compounds that alter disease-related behaviour. That work now connects experimental findings with human evidence to help decide which candidates warrant further development. Alongside this main focus, I continue a collaborative research programme in cetacean neuroanatomy.<\/p>

Current interests include ADHD, schizophrenia, neuronal excitability and the use of computational methods to guide and interpret experiments.<\/p>
